Target Positioning Viewers: Adding and Editing Reticles

The Target Positioning Viewers supports setting up and displaying ReticlesReticles are positioning fiducials used to properly orient the target within the target chamber prior to a shot.

A list of Reticles is shown in the lower right portion of the Target Positioning ViewerReticles can be added, deleted, or edited using the buttons below the Reticles List.

Reticle data can be exported to and imported from CSV-formatted files. To do this, select the Export/Import Reticle Data menu item under the File menu of the Target Positioning Viewer.

Individual reticles can be shown or hidden by selecting them in the Reticles List and right-clicking with the mouse.

Reticles at the Laser Beam Pointing Positions can be automatically added to the list of reticles (the pointing positions do not account for the Focus Offset). To do this, press the Add For Beams button located below the Reticles List. Reticles added have the following properties:

The crosshairs of Reticles, by default, are bounded by their circle's diameter. However, they can be extended to span the entire view. To do this, check the "Use Extended Crosshairs for Reticles" box in the Graphics tab in Edit | Preferences.

To put the Target Positioning Viewer into the Modify Reticles mode, press the Modify Reticles button (). When in the Modify Reticles mode, the following reticle manipulations are supported:

Reticles are treated somewhat differently for the OMEGA/EP chambers versus the NIF, LMJ, or ORION chambers. The differences are highlighted below.

OMEGA and OMEGA-EP Chambers:

For OMEGA and OMEGA-EP, the Reticles list display has the following characteristics:

For the X-TVS/Y-TVS Viewer, to print a composite of the X-TVS and Y-TVS views, along with a list of reticle parameters, select File | Print at the top of the viewer.

NIF, LMJ, ORION Chambers:

For the NIF, LMJ, and ORION chambers, the Reticles list display has the following characteristics:

When a reticle is added or edited, a window showing reticle parameters appears.  Here, the position, size, and color of the reticle can be adjusted.
